“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46:1-3
‘It Is Well’ is one of my favorite hymns. Specifically, the part where we sing ‘It is well with my soul’ because it challenges me to find that peace in my soul through whatever it may be that I’m facing. It challenges me to take my eyes off the waves and place them on the One who created them.
Life has its ups and downs, and often we forget that, as believers, we don’t just have smooth sailing from the moment we accept Christ as savior to the day we die. We often forget that we will face trouble of various kinds, and, when we do, we forget the need to find those lyrics in the depths of our souls and say to God, “it is well because I know the One who will get me through it”.
Being well in our souls doesn’t mean happiness or contentment. It means to find rest, trust, and calmness in the midst of everything surging around us. It means to recognize that even though everything isn’t going the way we had hoped or dreamed, we can keep our eyes on God and say, “it is well with me”. Why? Because everything is going according to His greater plan for your life.
Friend, whatever mountain you may be facing or storm you find yourself surrounded by, sing today “it is well with my soul”. It’s the last thing the enemy wants you to sing in the midst of chaos. We can boldly say those six words because the wind, the waves, that storm, that mountain — all those things know the name of their Creator and in one word they will obey His command.
You can get through this, my friend, because you know His name and everything that surrounds you knows His name. All of creation obeys Him and trembles before Him. Sing those words today and focus your eyes on the One that all knows and obeys.
be. well

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
