Patient & Wait On The Lord

This devotional was written by Chloee Jean.

Do you want to know how to patiently wait on the Lord? If so, this blog is just for you.

“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 ESV

Waiting is hard, especially when you feel like you’re in a rush. I know for me, it was always hard for me to have patience whenever I was going out with my family. I’m very much a time scheduled person — so I already mentally plan out what time I need to start getting ready in order to leave the house on time to get to the place I needed to at the right time. So whenever I would have to wait for someone in my family to finish getting ready and, as a result, leaving the house later than hoped for and getting to the destination later than scheduled, always tested my patience. I had to learn how to patiently wait on my family and be okay with things not going in the timing I had planned. I simply had to patiently wait.

In the same way, we have to patiently wait on the Lord. Mentally we may know how we want everything to go, down to the second, and often we think that He works on our time table — when in reality, He doesn’t. And when things don’t go as planned and our time table is suddenly pushed back, we grow impatient. We’re ready to go, but He hasn’t left His room yet.

Here’s the thing: our human minds can never fully comprehend the waiting season He purposely places us in. God sees what happens if we act too soon and if we act too late. He knows the right time. It’s His schedule we are to focus on, not ours. We only see the next step whereas He sees the beginning and end of it all.

“They who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…” Waiting often makes us tired and impatient, but this verse tells us that the waiting season renews our strength. There is strength in the waiting, and that is something to openly embrace with gratitude and praise.

“I’m gonna wait on You

I’m gonna wait on You

I’ve tasted Your goodness

I’ll trust in Your promise

I’m gonna wait on You

Wait on the Lord

Wait on the Lord

He will renew your strength

So wait I say”

– Wait on You, Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music

You know the goodness of God and you know that He keeps His promises. So why not just sit back and wait on Him? Let Him renew your strength in the waiting so that you can fully embrace the goodness that God has promised you.

be. patient and wait on the Lord

She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
