“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
I’ll say what everyone thinks when they peek over into the life of someone else: “Why are THEY having a good life, filled with great blessings?”.
It’s hard to be in a rough season and watch others reap a season of blessings. It’s easy to look into their lives and wish that it were us who were experiencing it. It’s hard to not compare. It’s easy to stay stuck while we dwell on what we don’t have.
In the above verse, we are told that for everything there is a season. Everything and everyone has to go through different seasons in their life, but it doesn’t mean we go through them at the same time. Not only that, but the seasons that are similar aren’t the same. Meaning your joyful season won’t look like someone else’s and their mourning season won’t look like yours. But it doesn’t mean either can’t relate or celebrate the other person in the season they’re in.
However, that doesn’t give you the right to wish you had a season someone else experienced. We all have to go through our own, individually different seasons. Why? Because God needs to teach and grow us all differently. And I have the perfect example of this.
My identical twin sister (believe me, this detail matters) and I were both bullied severely. Same people, same place, same time, and the same things were said to us. However, the seasons we both entered after looked completely different. You see, we both entered a season of depression, but we both handled it very differently. God needed to teach her something specific and He needed to teach me something specific. And, today, we are both able to be an encouragement to one another differently. Why? Because we experienced something similar but reaped a different benefit, allowing us both to speak into not only each other’s lives differently, but so many others as well.
Embrace the season you’re in. Walk in it. Find the lesson in it. More importantly, find God in it. Stop dwelling on someone else’s season. That’s not your story. It’s theirs. Let God teach you in this season so that He can then use you in someone else’s season, for “He has made everything beautiful in its time…” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
There’s a reason for the season you’re in. Stop wishing and dwelling for someone else’s season.
be. in YOUR season

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
