Psalm 121:1-8
“I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
These verses have been on repeat in my mind over the past week. Especially verses 1-2… “I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” I don’t know about you, but I find myself at times coming up against something in my life and I try to do it on my own strength. I tend to rely on things I know, instead of seeking the One who truly knows. I often think of how much time I have wasted when I try to do things on my own. It’s a proven fact, that when you have help, the task before you is always done quicker and with a lot less stress. And what’s so cool about God, is that He is always available. You don’t have to wait for Him to answer your phone call, or respond to your text. The Maker of heaven and earth is always there, bending His ear towards you when you call His name (Psalm 116:2). The God of all mankind, who says, there is nothing too hard for Me (Jeremiah 32:27), is always ready to help! Yet, I (we) oftentimes seek to do things on our own strength first, which so many times leaves us weary and feeling depleted. I challenge us all today to seek God first. When things in life arise, go to God first! Don’t wait until weariness sets in. The truth in Psalm 121 does not stop in verses 1-2, if you read on, it states:
“He will not let your foot slip-he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:3-8)
Wow! Friends, God’s got you! Look at the promise He gives when you look to Him for help! He has your life in the palm of His hand, now and forevermore! He goes before you, clearing your path. He walks beside you, helping you along the way. And He comes up behind you, guarding you from the attacks of the enemy! He is capable, and we all need His help! “I lift up my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
