Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
– 2 Corinthians 3:17
I don’t know about you, but whenever I would read the part of the verse that says, “where the Spirit of the Lord is”, my mind would instantly go to church, my quiet time with the Lord, and worship. That’s where His Spirit is. And, because of my limited mind, I would limit God to only be in those places. The more I thought about it, though, the more I realized that God is actually everywhere I go. Why? Because He lives in me. Which means there is freedom everywhere, not just at church or singing worship or my quiet time with Him.
Friend, I share this with you because I believe often, as believers, we limit where we can find freedom in Christ. We limit that idea because we forget that He is limitless, He is everywhere, He is always with us. Sometimes it’s hard to wrap our limited, small minds around that thought and truth, but it’s something we should daily remind ourselves of. Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us that “[He] will never leave [us] nor forsake [us]”. In other words, His Spirit will never leave us. His Spirit is always with us. And, because of those truths, freedom is always found. Freedom is always an offer for us every second of every day to grab ahold of and step into.
Where do you need freedom in today, this very second? Anxiety? Depression? Body image? Pornogrophy? Drugs? Lies? Insecurities that keep bubbling up? Toxic relationships? Feeling less than and not good enough? Whatever it may be, you can grab ahold of this freedom that is given to us so freely.
You see, the enemy likes to make us think that we can only be free on a Sunday but every other day of the week, we are in chains to whatever that thing may be. The enemy wants us to think that the Spirit of the Lord only meets with us for 10 minutes a day and that once His Spirit leaves us, we are no longer free. But we need to fight back and remind him of who we are. We are children of God. He lives in us. And because He lives in us and we are His children, we are free every second of every day. We don’t have to stay bound in the chains that he put us in because God has already set us loose from them.
You are free. You are no longer chained up by your anxiety or depression or addictions. You are no longer stuck in a corner with nowhere to go. God has opened the door and set you free. Question is: will you step into that freedom? Will you truly find freedom from those chains and leave them in that room, or will you keep a piece of what once held you back and only experience temporary freedom? The choice is yours.

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
