“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear keeps you inside a box whereas faith takes you outside of a box. Fear keeps you from having action whereas faith calls you to action. Fear gives you limitations whereas faith is limitless. Fear keeps you from worshipping and praising God, where faith calls you to step into worship and to praise God in the midst of everything that surrounds you.
It’s hard to not have fear when we live in a world that revolves around fear. Look at the news; fear. Look at social media; fear. Look at your newsfeed; fear. Fear is everywhere you look, whether you realize it or not.
But here in Deuteronomy, we are called to not be afraid. Why? Because “the Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave your nor forsake you”. Even on our darkest days we can be fearless because of He who goes before me and you. We can wake up every morning, pushing fear to the side and embracing faith by stepping out and trusting in the One who knows all.

That’s what fear is. It’s this chain that the enemy loves to wrap around our wrists, keeping us from stepping out and being fearless by faith. He doesn’t want us to change the world, he wants us to be molded into the fear that the world revolves around. He wants us to be more scared of him than he is of us.
The enemy is scared of what you and I can do. So he results in making us even more scared, filling us with fear and keeping us stuck in a box. And as long as we’re stuck in that box of fear, we can’t step out into the faith God has called us to step into. Do you think that if Peter chose to stay wrapped in his fear, that he would’ve stepped out of the boat and walked on water towards Jesus? He wouldn’t have. Fear would’ve kept him in the boat. Fear would’ve kept him emerged by the water when he started to sink and drown. But Peter fearlessly had faith to not only step out of the boat but also grab Jesus’ hand when he was being pulled down by fear.
That is that same fearless faith we are to have. We may not always be fearless, but we are to be reminded that even if fear does surround us, we can fearlessly reach out for our loving Savior will pull us out and help us for “He will never leave us nor forsake us”.
Today, I encourage you to step outside of that box you so comfortably adapted to and fearlessly step out in faith. Walk on water towards Jesus and when fear starts to overrun your mind, fearlessly reach out in faith for Him to pull you out.
Fearlessly have faith, my friend.

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
