“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
This week, this verse has been ringing in my ear nonstop. I can see and hear it almost everywhere I go and every thought that comes to mind. To press this truth even more, it was in my personal bible study yesterday. The author even used the NLT version of this verse which says, “For we are his masterpiece…”.
I don’t know about you, but I often have a hard time wrapping my mind around the things God has called and given me to pursue and care for. I take one look in the mirror and ask, “why me?”. This verse answers it perfectly. I’m His workmanship, His masterpiece, and that is why He’s called me. I didn’t have to do anything to earn it. I simply have to receive it.
Although this post may be short, I believe that there’s a great revelation for you and I today in receiving this verse. It’s owning the truth that we are His workmanship. We are priceless works who are fully equipped in Christ and by His own Spirit to handle what God’s will requires. We are called to do “good works”, which are God-sized on purpose. The better part of all this, we don’t have to do it by our own power because we get to walk in them for they were prepared beforehand for us to do through Jesus.
It’s all through Jesus we get to do this. It’s through Him that we get to have the privilege of being God’s workmanship, to be used for good works, no matter how big or overwhelming they may seem. So don’t strive for perfection, strive to just simply walk in these calls and do the good works God has called and given you to do.
