May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13
God is hope. How cool is that? When we seem to run on empty in the hope department, we have an endless supply found in God. That, my friend, is something He’s been teaching me over the past couple of weeks.
I’ve been learning that there is hope found in everything, including hard seasons. Whether or not you get what you want, there is a hope that we can be overflowed with and, along with it, joy and peace. How do we obtain that, though? By trusting God in the midst of it all.
In the verse above, we are promised to be filled with joy, peace, and hope, but we’re given one command – to trust in God. It’s through that trusting process we get an endless supply of what He promises to not just fill us with, but overflow us with through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Trusting in God in a sunny season is easy but in a stormy season? That’s a whole other story (am I right??). But, if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s this: the reward of receiving this promise is much sweeter in the stormy season than the sunny season. Why? Because there’s more of an effort put behind it. You have to learn how to trust more, even in the moments where it’s hard to trust. The uphill battle reaps sweeter, more filling rewards. Does that mean that it’s not sweet in the sunny seasons? No. But you see His promises being fulfilled differently. Expecting something and seeing exactly that is different from seeing what you least expected. The promise is sweeter, but only if you place your trust in God every second of every day.
It’s okay to be hopeful and expectant for something specific. In fact, I believe we’re encouraged to have that kind of faith. However, it’s important to be hopeful and expectant for what God also has for you. Be hopeful and expectant to receive that job, but also be hopeful and expectant to receive God’s best for you — even if it isn’t the job. Hope is found in both scenarios, just trust God in the midst of it all.
Fill in the blank: I’m hopeful and expectant for _____, but I’m also hopeful and expectant to receive God’s best for me — even if it isn’t _____. I trust You, God. Fill me with your joy and peace, as well as your endless supply of hope as I wait on you.
Write it down and put it in a place where you’ll be reminded of that thing, and watch yourself be filled with God’s peace and joy as well as His endless supply of His hope.
be. filled

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. After years of hardships and trials, Chloee found escape in her music and writing her own lyrics. She pursued a Worship Leader certificate at Bethel Music’s Worship School. When she completed her course, she led worship with her sister, Aliseea, at a small youth group they were both currently serving in. After they both stepped down from that role and during 2020’s pandemic, Chloee started her own podcast called W.O.W and small business, Simply by Chloee Jean. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word. When Chloee isn’t designing or podcasting, she spends quality time with her family by having game nights, a movie marathon, or even jamming out to some worship songs.
